KINGSTON, Jamaica — A mentorship match made through the University of Technology (UTech) Alumni Mentorship Programme has evolved into something extraordinary.

Mentor of the Year 2025, Sandrina Davis, and Mentee of the Year 2025, Jinel Gordon, are now co-authors of a new book, The Ripple Effect: 5 Keys to Making a Difference that Lasts, set to launch on Sunday, March 15.

What began as a structured mentor-mentee pairing has grown into a shared journey of leadership, purpose, and impact. Their story stands as living proof of what intentional mentorship can produce.

The Ripple Effect explores five practical keys to meaningful and lasting impact: choosing empathy over sympathy, empowering without embarrassing, listening before acting, building genuine relationships through love, and embracing mentorship as a legacy multiplier.

The first four keys draw from Davis’s years of leadership and service in communities across Jamaica, while the fifth key on mentorship is written by Gordon, bringing the story full circle.

“This book is not just theory,” Davis shared. “It is the evidence of what happens when someone believes in you and when you choose to believe in someone else.”

Gordon describes the experience as transformational. “Mentorship didn’t just shape my goals; it shaped my identity. Co-authoring this book is a reflection of what can happen when guidance meets commitment.”

The event will celebrate mentorship, leadership, and the power of showing up consistently to make a difference.

The Ripple Effect is an invitation for Jamaicans, students, professionals, parents and leaders to recognise that impact does not begin with titles, but with willingness.
