Mother-daughter duo shines with natural hair products
THREE HILLS, ST MARY — Simone Davis, 44 and her daughter Kezia Barnes, from this eastern parish, are making waves with their natural hair products, NKB Collections.
Their journey began in 2021 when Simone, a certified tour guide, became an agent for someone else’s products. Inspired by her own experiments with natural herbs, she tasked Kezia to research and develop their own line.
Despite challenges, including COVID-19 and Hurricane Melissa, they’ve persevered. Simone’s resourcefulness helped them pivot, creating hair bonnets, juices and other products to stay afloat. They seize every opportunity to showcase NKB Collections at medical outreach events, fairs and expos, connecting with customers and promoting their brand.
“We had faith and it paid off,” Simone said.
Their Instagram page has helped them gain local and international customers. Simone’s proud of their progress and grateful for her daughter’s help.
“She was my researcher, motivator, planner, organiser and a tower of strength when I felt like giving up, and the business seemed stagnant, and the bills were growing,” she recalled with a look of hope in her eyes.
The young entrepreneur confidently stated that if they have overcome COVID and Melissa, they know they will overcome anything.
“I know our future is bright with this product and I am confident we will be growing from strength to strength.”
