Nickisha Pryce, Shanoya Douglas among withdrawals from World Indoor team
KINGSTON, Jamaica— National 400m record holder Nickisha Pryce, Shanoya Douglas and Rivaldo Marshall are among a number of withdrawals from the Jamaican team that was named on Monday to participate in the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland later this month.
Hours after the team was named, a second release from the JAAA showed that up to six of the 32 athletes named had been withdrawn, resulting in Jamaican not entering a women’s 4x400m relay team at the three-day championships.
Pryce was one of two athletes down to contest the women’s 400m, while Shana Kaye Anderson and Leah Anderson who was part of the relay pool along with 18- year-old Douglas, had also withdrawn.
Douglas is set to run the 100m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy National Championships which starts on March 24, two days after the 4x400m race in Poland.
Meanwhile, male 400m runner Reheem Hayles and 800m runner Marshall, also withdrew.
