Man fined $3,000 for possession of prohibited weapon and disturbing peace

KINGSTON, Jamaica —  A man was ordered to pay $3,000 in fines when he appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday after being found with a machete without a lawful reason and behaving in a disorderly manner.

According to allegations, on January 9, 2026, Anthony Brown was found in possession of a machete along Dunrobin Avenue without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse.

He was also charged for conducting himself in a noisy and disorderly manner at the BOOT service station in St Andrew, causing a disturbance.

Brown was sentenced to pay a fine of $2,000 or spend two days in prison for possession of an offensive weapon, and $1,000 or one day in prison, for disorderly conduct.
