May 2026 voters’ list registration closes March 31
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) is reminding Jamaicans that the last day to register for the May 31, 2026, publication of the national voters’ list will be March 31.
The ECJ, in a media release on Friday, urged individuals aged 18 years and older, who are Jamaican citizens or Commonwealth citizens residing in Jamaica for at least 12 consecutive months, to apply by the deadline. It said registering to vote is free of cost.
“Prospective voters must apply in person at any Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) constituency office islandwide and are advised to wear only bright or dark-coloured clothing to facilitate the taking of their photograph. After the in-office application, the EOJ will send a team to verify the applicant’s residence, and then the application will be processed,” the commission said.
Persons already on the voters’ list are reminded not to reapply. However, electors who have not yet collected their renewed ID card are being asked to do so.
The voters’ list is published twice per year, on May 31 and November 30.
The ECJ said voter identification cards for those added to the May 2026 list will be distributed in June.
