The Voicebox expands presence on African continent to cover live events
Emerging media production entity, The Voicebox, has officially expanded its footprint to the African continent by establishing an on-the-ground media presence in Nigeria and Ghana. This move is calculated to allow The Voicebox to cover major live events and generate content surrounding Afrobeats’ rising vanguard of music stars.
One of the brand’s early successes was the immersive coverage of Ghanaian global star Stonebwoy’s highly anticipated concert experience, The Torture Experience, on March 5.
“By all indications, it was a great success,” Ramona Samuels, chief executive officer of The Voicebox, said.
“The Voicebox was able to capture the energy, the audience pulse, and the cultural significance of the moment from inside the experience itself in Ghana. We also have trusted representatives in Nigeria so this represents a major shift in our reach on the African continent.”
Founded in 2010 by Samuels, The Voicebox has built a reputation for premium storytelling, bold cultural commentary, and high-quality production across radio, and now, it is moving aggressively to establish itself across social media.
“This expansion to Africa through our on-the-ground correspondents was just a natural progression,” Samuels said.
“When we hit 1.6 million views with an unrelated video on TikTok, we knew that the countries in Africa would embrace us — and we’ve longed for The Motherland.”
She tapped the talents of DJ Murphy Dread of Raypower FM Nigeria for The Voicebox in Ghana, and cinematographer Frederick Ekon from Ekon Concepts, to capture live events in both Ghana and Nigeria.
“This strategic move represents more than event coverage. It signals a cultural bridge between Jamaica and West Africa — two regions deeply connected by rhythm, resistance, and musical evolution,” Samuels said.
By embedding its production network directly within Nigeria and Ghana, The Voicebox has ensured that the storytelling remains immersive, textured, and locally grounded, while still carrying the distinct production polish that audiences have come to expect.
The final production aired on Ramona Samuels TV on YouTube, the digital broadcast arm of The Voicebox, racking up impressive numbers.
Samuels said that in the future, viewers can expect interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, crowd reactions, and critical cultural insight surrounding The Torture Experience and upcoming shows.
The Voicebox has also been powering the coverage of the debut album Therapy For The Heart by emerging fusion pop artiste Samuel K. Golden.
The project’s emotional depth and sonic richness align seamlessly with The Voicebox’s mission of meaningful storytelling and cross-continental creative exchange, Samuels claimed.
With this move, the Voicebox is evolving from Jamaica’s first registered voice-over production house to an international media entity that connects the diaspora through music, culture, and narrative.
“The expansion has begun,” Samuels said.
