Air traffic slow in February
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Air travel through Sangster International Airport (SIA) and Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) declined in February as the country continues to recover from Hurricane Melissa.
Concession operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, SAB de CV (GAP) reported earlier this month that 274,500 passengers were processed, a 31.4 per cent fall compared to the 400,100 passengers in February 2025.
The passengers processed closely tracked prior months when 284,200 passengers passed through the airport in January 2026 and 262,600 passengers in December 2025.
NMIA had a 2.1 per cent decline in traffic, processing 119,400 passengers compared to the 121,900 passengers in February 2025.
GAP recorded a reduction in air traffic at 12 of the 14 airports it manages between Mexico and Jamaica during February. Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta International Airports experienced cancellations due to heightened fear in the Mexican state of Jalisco.
