#Champs2026: 2025 medallists return to girls Open 400m hurdles final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — All three finalists from last year’s girls Open 400m hurdles event have qualified for Friday’s final after the preliminaries on Tuesday’s opening day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
Defending champion Kelly-Ann Kerr of Edwin Allen High and the Hydel High pair of Nastassia Fletcher and Aaliyah Mullings booked their places in the medal round.
Mullings, the bronze medal winner last year, led the qualifying with 59.46 seconds. Kerr was next best with 59.74 seconds and Fletcher, who won the silver medal last year, clocked 59.75 seconds.
Chennai Burke of St Elizabeth Technical, who was seventh in the final last year, also returned to the final after she ran 1:01.37 minutes. They will be joined by St Jago High’s Alyssa Carty, Sheneca Harris of Port Antonio High, Marria Crossfield of Edwin Allen and Shannaty Burke of Ferncourt.
