Westmoreland biker killed in crash in his community
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A motorcyclist died as a result of injuries he sustained in a crash with a motor car in his Westmoreland community Monday night. A pillion rider also suffered injuries and has been admitted in hospital for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Javain Hines of a Hertford, Westmoreland address.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that about 7:15 pm, Hines was driving his motorcycle on the Hertford main road with a pillion on board when he lost control and collided with a Toyota Noah motorcar.
Both Hines and the pillion sustained injuries and were taken to hospital where Hines was pronounced dead.
The motorcyclist’s death pushes the tally of road fatalities recorded since the start of this year to 53, which is 32 or 38 per cent less than the corresponding period last year.
