St James sanitation workers charged with murder
ST JAMES, Jamaica—Three sanitation workers from St James addresses have been slapped with murder charges following the shooting death of a man in Montego Bay, in the parish, on March 18.
They are 23-year-old Akeemo Brooks, otherwise called ‘Keemo’, of Cornwall Courts, Green Pond; 39-year-old Miguel Whitelock of Rose Heights, Green Pond; and 34-year-old Delwayne Brown of Johncrow Hotel, also in Green Pond.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old handyman Andrew Graham, otherwise called ‘Flippa’, of Green Pond district, also in St James.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police indicate that, about 6:45 am, citizens stumbled upon Graham lying unresponsive and summoned the police. Upon their arrival, he was reportedly seen lying on his back with a chop wound to his neck. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation into Graham’s death, the police, acting on information, took Brown and Whitelock into custody on March 21, and Brooks a day later.
They were formally charged on Tuesday, March 24, after a question-and-answer session.
A court date is being finalised for them.
