#Champs2026: Munro’s Brandon Lawrence seeks redemption in Class 2 shot put
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Munro College’s Brandon Lawrence will be hoping to finish on the podium in the boys Class 2 shot put after finishing in fifth place last year.
On Thursday’s third day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium, the Western Champs gold medalist led the qualifying with 17.62m in his only attempt.
Two other throwers achieved the automatic qualifying mark of 15.30m: Nasir D’Aguilar-15.84m and Jaafari Shaw- 15.58m, both from Jamaica College.
Ashan Haffenden, also of Munro College, Kidane Linton and Mark-Anthony Earlington of Calabar High and Junior Wright of Cornwall College also made progress.
