#Champs2026: Immaculate’s Jamel claims gold in javelin throw
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Immaculate Conception’s Zoelle Jamel and Vere Technical’s Ramona Freemantle took gold and silver respectively in the girls javelin open at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Thursday.
Jamel just edged Freemantle on countback for the gold, after both had thrown the exact same 45.09m. The best second throw was used as the decider.
Jamel, whose best throw came in the fifth round, had a second best 44.68m to Freemantle’s 43.42m after she had registered her best mark in the opening round.
Edwin Allen’s Angel Robinson, who was fifth last year, took the bronze with 43.67m.
