#Champs2026: Excelsior’s Campbell breaks boys’ Class 2 400m hurdles record

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Excelsior High’s Jaeden Campbell ran a meet record and personal best 50.87 seconds to win the boys Class 2 400m hurdles on Friday at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Campbell broke the previous meet record 51.44 seconds set in 2017 by Jeremy Farr of Wolmer’s Boys, and broke his previous lifetime best of 50.91 seconds while extending his world under-18 lead in the process.

Hydel High’s Kavion Minnott was second with a personal best 52.49 seconds while Gregory Williams of Jamaica College was third with 53.05 seconds, also a lifetime best.

Kingston College’s Jahvanie Tyrell won the Class 1 final in a personal best 50.63, beating Jamaica College’s Rojay Black-50,86 seconds and Excelsior High’s Kishawn Hoffman, who won the gold medal last year.
