#Champs2026: Hydel’s Fletcher turns the tables on Edwin Allen’s Carr
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hydel High School’s Nastassia Fletcher ran a world under-20 leading and personal best 56.70 seconds to win the girls’ open 400m hurdles on Friday’s penultimate day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium to exact revenge on Edwin Allen’s Kelly-Ann Carr, the defending champion.
A day earlier, Carr had beaten Fletcher in the Class 1 400m and a year ago had won the 400m hurdles gold medal.
Fletcher’s time beat her previous best of 57.92 seconds set in March 2025 and also took over the world lead from South Africa’s Tumi Ramokgopa.
Carr ran 56.84 seconds, under her previous best of 57.02 seconds and second best in the world this year, while Hydel High’s Alliyah Mullings was third in a big personal best 59.25 seconds, under her previous best of 1:01.36.
