Jamaica Employers’ Federation announces newly elected executive leadership team
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Employers’ Federation (JEF) has announced its newly elected executive officers, with Wayne Chen returning as president.
The newly elected officers are trustees Ian Forbes and Dr Hopelin Hinds, vice president of human resources (HR) at National Commercial Bank; president Wayne Chen; first vice president Judon Bowden, HR director at Red Stripe; Second Vice President Cordell Williams, president of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica; secretary Caron Anderson, director of HR and IR at Kingston Freeport Terminal; and treasurer Orville Hill.
According to the JEF in a press release, the newly appointed executive reflects a dynamic mix of leadership, experience, and cross-sector representation, positioning the federation to continue advancing its mandate of supporting employers and driving sustainable economic growth.
Returning president Wayne Chen underscored the importance of steady and forward-looking leadership at this time.
“It is an honour to continue serving as president of the Jamaica Employers’ Federation at such a pivotal time for employers and the wider economy. Businesses are navigating rapid shifts in technology, workforce expectations, and global uncertainty. Our focus as a federation is clear. We are strengthening the capacity of employers to remain competitive, resilient, and forward-looking. This executive team brings the diversity of experience and leadership required to support our members in adapting, growing, and contributing meaningfully to Jamaica’s development,” he said.
First Vice President Judon Bowden also highlighted the importance of people and performance in navigating change.
“This is a defining moment for employers in Jamaica. Growth, productivity, and long-term competitiveness will depend on how well organisations build the leadership and workforce capability required for a rapidly changing environment,” Bowden said.
“As first vice president, I am committed to supporting employers in strengthening leadership, building high-performing organisations, and ensuring that our businesses and people are not only resilient today, but future-ready for what’s ahead,” he added.
Speaking on her appointment, Second Vice President Cordell Williams emphasised the importance of deepening collaboration between JEF and Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA) to build stronger, more resilient businesses.
“The Jamaica Employers’ Federation established the Young Entrepreneurs Association in 2006 and my election at this time is both timely and strategic. It presents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the connection between established enterprises and emerging businesses while advancing the role of MSMEs in Jamaica’s economic growth and development. I am grateful for the continued collaboration with JEF and look forward to serving alongside the executive team to equip businesses, empower change, and build more resilient, future-ready organisations,” she said.
