A Sterling Silver Celebration: Sterling Asset Management marks 25 years

Sterling Asset Management Limited recently commemorated its 25th anniversary with an elegant customer appreciation event at the UWI Mona Ruins & Lawns, bringing together clients, partners, and stakeholders to celebrate the milestone.

Hosted under the theme “A Sterling Silver Celebration: A legacy of trust. A future of possibilities. For every moment…confidently Sterling,” the evening reflected on 25 years of consistent performance and principled leadership while honouring the clients whose confidence has defined the company’s journey.

Established in 2001, Sterling Asset Management has grown into one of Jamaica’s recognised investment management firms, providing investors with access to global capital markets and US-dollar-denominated opportunities. The company has shaped the evolution of local investment options by pioneering globally diversified fixed-income investments and introducing one of Jamaica’s first US-dollar mutual funds.

Addressing guests at the event, Charles Ross, president and CEO of Sterling Asset Management, spoke to the significance of the milestone and the relationships that underpin it.

Marian Ross-Ammar, Vice President of Trading and Investment, and Charles Ross, President & CEO, joined host Debbie Bissoon (centre) to look back on what 25 years of Sterling represents, candidly sharing the challenges faced along the way, the company’s unwavering commitment to putting clients first, and a forward-looking vision grounded in trust, discipline, and continued growth.

“It really is a fantastic feeling to be here celebrating 25 years, especially with many of our early clients still with us today,” he said. “Without our clients, we certainly wouldn’t be here. They are the reason we get up every day and do what we do.”

Reflecting on the company’s journey, Ross noted that Sterling was born out of a need to provide more stable, long-term investment solutions in a challenging economic climate.

“We recognised the need for investments that could preserve principal while delivering strong returns, and that’s what led to our focus on US-dollar fixed income,” he explained. “What we’ve learned over the years is that even in times of crisis, there are opportunities, and with a disciplined, prudent approach, you can navigate those moments successfully.”

For 25 years, Sterling has delivered a strong suite of services spanning portfolio management, financial planning, and global securities trading, with a focus on international diversification to help clients access global opportunities while managing local risk.

Celebrating 25 years of Sterling, the Ross family came together in elegant style, as (from right) Marian Ross-Ammar, Vice-President of Trading and Investment, and Charles Ross, President & CEO, were joined by Natalie Farrell-Ross and Andrew Ross, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Finance, in a moment that embodied legacy, leadership, and family.

Beyond its core business, the company remains committed to national development through sustained support for organisations such as the Maxfield Park Children’s Home, Crime Stop Jamaica, the Joy Town Community Development Foundation, and schools including Charlie Smith High School and Calabar High School, as well as sporting initiatives like the Rangers Sporting Championship and the Sir Henry Morgan Anglers Association Annual Marlin Tournament.

The event also celebrated Sterling’s strong client relationships, with many attendees having partnered with the company for decades.

Long-standing client Ethan Sinclair, consultant at Myers, Fletcher & Gordon, shared his perspective on the firm’s impact.

“I decided to go to Sterling, and I’ve not regretted one minute,” he said. “What stands out is the level of care and professionalism. Whether you’re a large or small investor, you receive the same attention, and that level of customer service is exceptional.”

(From left) Desrine Lawson, Senior Parish Judge Paula Blake-Powell, and Darlene Jones, Executive Director of the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services, exuded timeless elegance, elevating the evening with their poised and polished looks.

Second-generation client Carole-Jean Haslam echoed this sentiment, noting, “For some of us, Sterling truly runs in the family, what started with my mother has become a lasting relationship for me, built on trust, care, and a sense of partnership that goes far beyond just managing investments.”

As the evening drew to a close, Ross reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its clients and the future.

“Client centricity is at the heart of everything we do, putting our clients’ interests first and delivering solutions that support their long-term goals,” he said. “We are grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us, and we look forward to continuing this journey together for many years to come.”
