Some of the nation’s top under-20 female talent will be on show Saturday as the curtains come down on the ISSA Construction Wynlee Sportswear Reinas Cup, with defending champions Reinas Academy taking on Los Perfectos FC in the final at 4:30 PM at Buttercup Park in Mona.

The competition, which is in its fifth year, started in June with five teams participating.

Ddebutants Real Mobay Academy copped third place. Proven FC and Next Generation were the other teams.

Reinas Academy, who will be looking for their third straight Reinas Cup title, will be heavily dependent on the league’s leading goal scorer and national player, Olivia Ashbourne, who has six goals. She will be ably supported by senior Reggae Girl Shanae Ashley, winger Breanna Marr and midfielder Alexia Evans to get the job done.

Meanwhile, first-time finalist Los Perfectos, who made their entry into the competition last season, have a star-studded team led by national youth representative Schenelle Walters, Kyra Grant, and Tavia Gayle.

Tournament organiser and Reinas Academy founder Neo Oxford said this is a game you do not want to miss.

“This could be one of the best local female football matches you will ever witness. Both teams have quality all around the pitch and it is set to be super exciting,” Oxford said.

Stressing the importance of having a tournament like this, he added: “The Reinas Cup has become a household name locally and internationally. Several girls who have participated have gotten scholarships and are now overseas. For the past five years, every single game has been streamed and has been able to showcase these girls globally, we are doing what we need to do.”

Both Reinas and Los Perfectos played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the league round.
