Mount Pleasant seek to cut JPL lead with win over Spanish Town Police
Former champions Mount Pleasant FA could move to within two points of leaders Montego Bay United with a win over last-placed Spanish Town Police in their rescheduled Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game at the Royale Lakes Sports Complex today at 3:30 pm.
Mount Pleasant, who are coming off a 1-1 draw with Arnett Gardens on Monday evening, are on 56 points in second place behind Montego Bay United (61). Racing United are third on 54 points, with Portmore United next on 51.
Mount Pleasant managed to draw with Arnett despite playing the last few minutes of the first half with 10 men after Jahshaun Anglin was sent off by referee Daneon Parchment.
They will be seeking a third-straight win against the promoted Spanish Town Police, who are on 20 points and have picked up just two points from their last six games.
Mount Pleasant have scored nine goals in their previous two meetings with Spanish Town Police, recording 4-0 and 5-0 wins, and will be aiming for another lopsided victory. Raheem Edwards, who has 16 goals, is one shy of Golden Boot leader Trayvon Reid of Harbour View and will again lead the attack.
