Shernette Crichton makes history as Half Moon’s first female managing director
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican hotelier Shernette Crichton has made history at the renowned Half Moon Resort, becoming the property’s first female managing director after a steady rise through the organisation’s ranks.
The announcement was made on Thursday by George Terpilowski, senior vice president of operations at Salamander Collection, which manages Half Moon Resort.
Speaking on the appointment, Terpilowski emphasised the confidence placed in Crichton’s leadership.
“We felt strongly that it was both imperative and appropriate to elevate Shernette from general manager of Half Moon to managing director,” Terpilowski said.
Her promotion follows close collaboration with the resort’s ownership and executive leadership team.
The appointment was also supported by Sheila Johnson, the founder and chief executive officer of Salamander Collection and Guy Steuart III, chairman of Half Moon.
