Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho record label put Sean Paul in the lead

Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho record label put Sean Paul in the lead

KINGSTON, Jamaica—Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho, who dazzled the world in the famous number 10 shirt, is now a record label boss with Jamaican dancehall artiste Sean Paul leading his first album.

With the Brazilian set to touch down in Jamaica this December, local fans are left with one question: will he bring the football, the music, or both?

Ronaldinho launched Tu Música, a Miami-based global music brand and record label, alongside his brother and long-time manager Roberto de Assis and producers Allan Jesus and Roni Maltz Bin.

The label’s early focus is Latin America, but its first release reaches much further. That release is Camisa 10, Portuguese for “the number 10 shirt”. It arrived on June 9, 2026, just ahead of the FIFA World Cup, and brought together more than 40 artistes from 18 countries and territories across dancehall, reggaeton, Afrobeats, música mexicana, pop and urban music.

Names on the project include Pitbull, Jonas Blue, Justin Quiles, Luis R. Conriquez, Lenny Tavárez and Juan Magán.

The album opens with Lead, performed by Sean Paul with Banx & Ranx, the Montreal-based duo behind several of his recent records, including work on his Grammy-nominated album Scorcha and Crick Neck for the Usain Bolt documentary I Am Bolt.

Placing a Jamaican dancehall star at the front of a football legend’s debut puts Jamaica at the heart of the project.

“Ronaldinho is a legend, and I feel truly grateful, excited, and honoured to be part of this project with him,” said Sean Paul.

For Ronaldinho, the collaboration is personal.

“I have been a fan of Sean Paul for a long time. His hits were the soundtrack to so many parties, songs people will never forget, and it was a privilege to work alongside him,” he said.

Ronaldinho also lends his own voice to three tracks on Camisa 10: Perfil with Luis R Conriquez, Vamos Celebrar with Pitbull and La Verde with Tony Aguirre. He described the album as “a dream come true” because “music has always been part of my life”.

Ronaldinho’s move into music did not begin with the label. In March 2014, while starring for Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro, he appeared in the video for Vamos Beber (Joga o Copo Pro Alto), a Brazilian funk party anthem with producer Dennis DJ and the sertanejo duo João Lucas & Marcelo, best known for Eu Quero Tchu, Eu Quero Tcha. The video was shot poolside at his home in Lagoa Santa, outside Belo Horizonte.

At the time, he said in interviews that he planned to become a professional artiste once his playing days were over. More than a decade later, the song has passed 27 million plays on Spotify and is still a party favourite in Brazil. More collaborations followed.

They include Professor da Malandragem with Dennis DJ and Wesley Safadão, his first time as the leading star of a music video; Solteiro de Novo with Wesley Safadão; and Perdoa Amor with Grupo Revelação, which he co-wrote.

Brazil’s music rights body, Ecad, lists 93 musical works and 32 recordings under his name. Camisa 10 is the result of more than 10 years of making music alongside his football career.

This December, Ronaldinho is coming to Jamaica.

Full details of the visit is expected to be announced soon.
