The countdown is on
Well perhaps the signs are indeed there for some have already started to pack the steamer trunks whilst pretending that they’re in for the long haul.
The countdown has started and the race this time will not be for the swift but definitely for those with stamina.
Hot couple
Well whilst we ponder the new cess, Ray Chang and Donnette Chinloy are still basking in each other’s arms and have just returned from a cruise aboard the Infinity (of the Celebrity Line). Relaxation was the order of the day as the ship called at Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Antigua and the Riviera of the Caribbean Saint Thomas. The hot couple took time out to win a “twisting” competition.
Buzzing
The pantomine `Augus Mawnin’ scored big in Toronto and the buzz is still on.
Salsa or meringue?
On the local scene it seems as if the wife of the former Cuban diplomat did indeed place the ad. Hell indeed hath no fury.
…Some have put it down to the salsa, others the meringue.
‘
Celeb’ tenants pay big
The word from Island Village is that some of the ‘celeb’ tenants are already swallowing large amounts of antacid. The rent you see seems to be due much too regularly. Tatler puts it down to jealousy from those who wanted a spot but were denied. What’s the rent?
Some places costs US$5,000, others more. Such a small price to pay for atmosphere wouldn’t you agree?
Flop art
In Kingston the art scene is heating up again.
Auctions everywhere. Thursday night’s art auction at Le Meridien was the first flop of the season. “Rubbish!” is how many described the auction.
Negril fun
Shaggy and Bounti Killer played in Negril to the Springbreakers last week. And over at Negril Inn the fabulous Rosa Young is getting ready to host MTV Promotions crew. In house on the 13th will be The Freestylers, from the UK and on the 20th, Youth Ahead from Gig Records. MC’s are Jason Mewes and Lizzy Holyfield. This promises to be a lot of fun.
Air pockets of humour
And the Chairman, fresh from his jaunt in Trinidad buoyed the nation last week Wednesday as he launched the A340 Atlantic limousine service to the United Kingdom and announced the opening of a new gateway notably Manchester. It took individually signed letters to get everyone out. And indeed they all came: members of the diplomatic corps: EU’s Gerd Jachow.
The very busy French ambassador Pierre Antoine Berniard (who tomorrow launches both the Peugeot 607 and 307), The South African Ambassador, Thanduyise Henry Chiliza, British High Commissioner Antony Smith was sporting a Panama hat.
Some members of the audience wanted to know if it was that of Prince Phillip. Chairman of Air Jamaica Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart chaired the proceedings and was in spanking form. His high-energy performance led to a jovial presentation from leader of the Opposition, Edward Seaga, who imitated accents as he told several jokes. Prime Minister Patterson took us on his first Atlantic flight which included stops in Nassau, Gandor, Shannon and finally London; with air pockets of humour. Truth be told we ought to have been charged for such a show. Judi Emmanuel was excellent as was the Military Band. The Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Roy Walters also brought greetings and has promised to do his best to fill the flights once the flight commences.
A Bientot!
