Can all women have multiple O’s?
Some women have them; some women don’t.
Many sex experts think you can teach yourself to have multiple orgasms by spending time alone with your own body (and perhaps a vibrator), experimenting with different types and rhythms of touch. This is a pretty fun way to while away a rainy afternoon alone.
But sexual release should not be measured in quantity, but in quality. The key is how satisfied you feel when you get out of bed with your partner. If you feel pretty damn good after just one orgasm, then probably once is enough. There’s no point in ruining a good thing.
What happens during an orgasm?
There just aren’t enough words in the English vocabulary for orgasm. It’s almost impossible to define because it’s such a subjective experience.
Orgasms also tend to occur when our powers of observation are seriously impaired, if not absent altogether. So it’s hard to write a coherent standard description, nevertheless, we’ll have a go.
In 1953 a well known therapist defined it as “an explosive discharge of neuro-muscular tension”. There are other definitions, but the word ‘tension’ is common in most. So when you have sex, you deliberately wind yourself up and make yourself tense – just so you can experience the pleasure of returning back to normal afterwards. Bizarre!
The technical stuff that goes on in your body to create that tension is pretty amazing.
* Your heart pumps faster and your breathing gets heavier so you can fuel those tensing muscles.
* Chemicals such as endorphins and oxytocin are being pumped round your brain and body telling you this is fun.
* Blood is being pumped to your genitals to create the tension that will ultimately trigger a pudendal reflex through our spine.
* That reflex will result in your pelvic floor muscles contracting between 5 and 15 times at 0.8 second intervals. That’s orgasm !.
