Nadine’s magic began here
Forgive us at All Woman if we’re feeling a bit smug, but when a team strives to be on the cutting edge, it’s only natural that we expose talent. Our little Nadine first graced the pages of All Woman during Caribbean Fashionweek. Dressed by Trinidadian designer, Claudia Pegus, she stood proud and tall beside the sultry Carla Campbell, and the recently discovered Janelle Robinson.
Observer photographer, Garfield Robinson (our same photographer who brought you exclusive photos of Violet Chang in that memorable red dress), has the distinction of being the first local photographer to shoot Nadine for a media house.
All Woman caught up with Nadine again when writer Gwyneth Herold watched her exotic moves at the GO-GO club. Never one to be daunted she shared her trials and tribulations with All Woman readers, all this while planning a return to Europe. She seemed certain that this was going to be her big break.
Down South in Saint Lucia, Mae Wayne, publisher of She Caribbean, was receiving rave reviews for She Caribbean’s coverage of Caribbean Fashionweek. Nadine had been chosen by Mae and photographer husband Rick, and had been featured extensively. The wonderful news is that this beautiful black woman had already been discovered in the region.
When contacted by All Woman, Mae and Rick Wayne, naturally ecstatic about Nadines’ success, had this to say: “We at SHE Caribbean are so excited about Nadine. We knew she was super special the moment we set eyes on her. We pulled her out of a crowd at Caribbean Fashion week, she was there with a bunch of friends. We asked her to model for a fashion shoot for Claudia Pegus designs.
“The designer Claudia loved her. But it was our photographer Rick Wayne who went bonkers the minute she stepped before his camera.
“Beautifully feline, was how he immediately described Nadine. She seemed to give new significance to whatever she was wearing, whether gowns or swimsuits. We all recognized her magic, and are so proud that we did.
SHE Caribbean readers have also fallen for Nadine. The issue with her pictures is receiving phenomenal reviews. While all the models featured have gone down well, it’s Nadine who seems to have captured the readership’s attention.
Even greater news is that our phones here at The Observer have been ringing off the hook. The international media houses just can’t seem to get enough of this beauty.
Our promise to you at All Woman is to continue to bring you regular updates on Nadine as well as fashion news.
We cannot wait to get our hands on the issue of French Vogue.
