Tatler.2005 Wrap

History assures a future and so even though much has already happened in 2006, let’s enjoy a latte as we relive some of the highlights of 2005.

Mitsie Seaga met Zia Mian and are still happily sipping Champagne each weekend. Mitsie also became a grandmother.

Anabella Seaga will soon be a mum.

Imani Duncan got over Peter Bunting (well sort of, nobody ever truly does) and is all set to marry Basil Waite.

Chris Dehring proposed but never got around to saying ‘I do’ to the lovely Ms Aleong. Oh well, perhaps it’s on hold for after Cricket World Cup 2007.

Lisa Hanna moved back to Jamaica and into the arms of Richard Lake.

Wendy FitzWilliams got pregnant for David Panton.

Melissa Warwar tied the knot and did the baby thing all in a year.

Kinshasa Minott took a deep beautiful breath, left hubby David and is now balancing her career and two beautiful children.

Rebecca Brandt got engaged to Dr Matthew Barker and ties the knot this year.

Laura Gambrill and Jason Henzell will make it official this weekend.

Stanja Grindley said ‘yes’to Roger Seivwright in Montego Bay.

David Hall might have taken eight years to make up his mind but he certainly did it in style on a ski slope and yes, he went down on his knees before presenting a great-looking diamond to Liz Sheehan. The wedding is set for August in Ireland.

Sheryl Lee Ralph became Mrs Senator Hughes.

Kathy Owen became engaged to Spaniard Jorge Lopez de Guerenu. The wedding is set for Spring of this year right here in Jamaica.

Newly weds Gordon Scott and Kristina Newman moved to the States.

Richard and Ursula Ashenheim relocated to Bermuda.

Many had anticipated a swellaganza affair, instead they eloped. Melanie Owen is now a mother..

Patrick Hylton and Brigitte Foster tied the knot as did EU boss Gerd Jarchow and Mara Mandara.

Grenadian hotelier Royston Hopkin became Sir Royston Oliver Hopkin. his credo: “To serve with honour but not for honour.”

Mark McConnell pops the question.Jamie Stewart says ‘yes’.

James Samuels on consultancy in Barbados.

Brian Sang returns home.

Minor and Major Tremors…

The lawyer and the event designer went head to head. By year-end, things had sorted themselves out and the lawyer had moved into a new home.

The red Hummer.

A wise billionaire once said, “Concentrate on the low hanging fruit.” Well, in one year two fell and rather loudly too.

Maxine Roberts was recalled and Gail Mathurin took over as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Maureen and Audley Shaw called it quits. Audley moved on with US-based registered nurse Susan Duhaney.

Nicole Haughton threw her 30th birthday party minus Johnny Barnes at Boscobel.

Mark Shields arrived and became the darling of the social circuit. The best ‘come hither’ line for 2005 would be “Mark, where in Scotland are you from?”

Mark’s reply, “I’m not Scottish, I’m from Scotland Yard.”

It’s called from Russia no more love: The local porn king’s wife (he had left his wife for her) dug off having acquired her papers for the USA.

Mark Golding pens and sings (to boot) Omar Davis’ campaign song.

Well, it almost had all the drama that was attached to attempting to out the lights on the right side of Riva Ridge. JPS went to disconnect the 350 year-old well-appointed sacred ground. The contractor made several attempts to disconnect but was detained. No ID. Frantic calls are made to Uncle since the Niece couldn’t help .Regrettably nothing could prevent the church from being plunged into darkness for non-payment of energy bills.

The big businessman New Year’s resolve. figure out how to break the pregnancy story to his family.

Laura Butler dates Phillip Paulwell.
