Of Vibes City. Sore Points. And the Big One.
MoBay almost got crowned Jamaica’s entertainment capital last week as organisers and sponsors delivered Jamaica’s Greatest, The World’s Best, Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2006.
Creative thinking came in the form of the Red Stripe disco that created a Red Stripe cool party vibe inside but allowed those on the outside a taste of the great party vibes within.
Wisynco scored big on creativity both with the sky view ball (the bubble) as well as the 50 Cent, vitaminwater connection.
The cops scored big by keeping traffic moving and the roads clear.
The organisers kept the entrance lines clear and hassle free – very smooth, very professional. We also loved the fact that those responsible for the event were listed right at the front.
The sore point.
The three members of Jamaica Tours who perhaps have lost touch with the need to be customer-driven – not to mention the attitude of the supervisor(s) who perhaps feel that the company has made enough money.
Thankfully, within that same organisation exists a few who not only enjoy the job but feel good when the customer is happy.
Friday night’s VIP section was clearly oversold (or perhaps had too many gatecrashers) it could have all gotten very ugly.
The night’s big one.
It had to happen for don’t you know how fond we are of making a scene and showing just how important we are.
Well the north coast married legal beaver with a political leaning – who has been sending his protégé to school – got rather peeved sometime after 11pm Saturday.
The damsel got a tad nervous after being left alone in such a vast Catherine Hall setting. We’re putting it down to her naïvety for on his return she demanded to know where he had been. Horror of horrors she was truly reprimanded and given a lashing like the ones meted out Thursday night (at dancehall night). It’s not yet done.
Her punishment for the night was to bow her head and fold her hands all alone. A friend of the attorney embraced the distraught young woman but was immediately admonished. “No bother let me tump her down!” It’s called Same Way So!
A Bientôt!
