Beaches Sandy Bay honours 17 team members
Seventeen team members at Beaches Sandy Bay Beach Resort were honoured for their dedicated service and professionalism at the resort’s Quarterly Team Member Awards ceremony last Wednesday. The awardees topped the categories of Most Consistent, Smile & Courtesy and Team Member of the Month for January through to May 2006.
Held in the Dresdell Munroe Conference room at the Negril-based property, the function also saw eleven other team members being recognised for successfully completing a six-week training programme in the housekeeping and food & beverage departments. This training course was developed by the former general manager and was aimed at arming individuals within the community with certain necessary hospitality skills. Trainees in the food and beverage department learnt basic skills like table setting, cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen or the proper way of carving and decorating, while those in housekeeping were trained to effectively clean rooms and public areas.
While there is no guarantee of employment, the programme, which began in late May, will allow those who have passed the opportunity to be first in line to get available positions in the property.
In addition, the 40-minute function also honoured Income Auditor Marva Scarlett, who was voted the Most Environmentally Aware team member of the quarter, and Errol Reid of the Maintenance department, who was voted the Supervisor of the Quarter.
