And the beat goes on
And the saga continues, so sip on this today. When Miss Universe was held in Trinidad (the year Wendy gave the crown to Miss Botswana), a contestant was forced to withdraw because of pregnancy.
And did you know that Miss World 2005, Miss Iceland, her mum was pregnant with her while competing in the 1984 pageant? Naturally the organisers did not know.
Miss World 1974, Helen Morgan, from the UK had to resign because it was discovered that she was an unwed mum. The mother part wasn’t the issue. It was the fact that she wasn’t married when she had the child. From then on, the childless rule was instituted for future winners.
Closer home, we’re giving thanks that you know who is not the father. I mean third strike!!! But it was whispered that Janice Whittingham was a couple of months pregnant when she crowned Andrea Haynes in 1988 two weeks before going down the aisle.
And there’s more. No silly, not the fact that Doreen had her birthday party chez PJ, but that the ex-daughter-in-law, having paid for the divorce, is experiencing all kinds of travel difficulties. Well, what did she really expect to take him (the baby) away.? Job or no job.
A Bientot!
PS Married indeed! She’s back, albeit temporarily and is already busy catching up. Hubby remains clueless (or perhaps not). While some are watching the cricket scoreboard, others are paying keen attention to the sidelines.
PPS Okay, so he’s not the long time one and has been in the pic shorter than her reign. But let’s hope he, too, doesn’t decide that it was “an error of judgement”.
