Winning whites
WITH a cricket pause as it were, there’s now (finally) sufficient hours in the day to shop for the semi-finals in Jamaica, the pre and post parties leading up to them, the finals in Barbados and the amazing jazz festival scheduled for Tobago.
The boutiques have been stocking up (albeit slowly) on stylish white cotton tees, casual clothes, hippy (as in they fit low on the hips) white trousers, dresses and evening tops.
So what to buy?
Patent white platform shoes (a great investment as they can be worn day or night).
White crochet is still hot, but as amazing as this Sonia Rykiel design looks, local pros Elaine Ellington or Minka can produce equally impressive dresses.
As many white tops as possible (cricket, carnival, jazz), there’ll be more than enough opportunity to wear white.
Peep-toes espadrille wedge.
Heels, by the way, are as high as you can comfortably wear them.
Headbands are hot too, so choose your favourite fabric and wrap away.
Baby-doll dresses are on the must-have list too, as are Perspex wedges.
