Getting lifted, gently
These days it’s all about a tuck here, or a nip there – they’re even making must-watch television to boot about ‘cutting to perfection’. It seemed therefore, a bit incredible to say the least, when the allwoman beauty and fashion desk heard talk (much talk over a few drinks) about the micro-current face-lift, a non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic technique that Hollywood red carpet habitués (male and female) use ahead of a big ‘do’. And yes, it’s also favoured by TV anchors whose network has gone high definition (as in HD-TV).
Imagine our surprise when we discovered that those in the know, in addition to those who always look so fabulous under our own lens (think Page 2 moments), have been secretly enjoying the procedure right here in Kingston at The Face Place. Let me immediately ‘fess up’, however, that we had planned to keep this all to ourselves, but under duress, here’s the inside scoop from Face Place owner Marie-Simone Hall.
“What it does in a nutshell is give you healthier and younger looking appearance.” (There really was no need for her to continue, for who really needed to know any more). “It improves muscle tone in the face and neck, lifts jowls and eyebrows and reduces and eliminates fine lines and wrinkles”. Incredibly, there was more. “It improves facial circulation, skin exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, skin pigment and reduces sun damage.”
The next question, naturally, was how did it work?
“A micro-current facelift uses gentle electrical stimulation to trigger the body’s natural skin enhancement chemicals at a certain level. Clinical studies” she shares, “have shown that after 20 days of treatment collagen production increases by 38%. Scientists also found that micro-current facelift treatments trigger the body’s production of amino acids which accelerates cell repair”
Who does it?
MSH: Any patient who wishes to maintain or gain a youthful appearance. Younger clients can seek a micro-current facelift to prevent some of the aesthetic effects of aging. Older clients can be rejuvenated by having a micro-current facelift.
How long does it take and is it painful?
MSH: Reckon on an hour. It’s virtually painless, however, you can experience a tingling sensation in the jaw line and a mild metallic taste (especially clients with a lot of dental work).
What else to know.
The micro-current face specialist will use a two-pronged tipped instrument to gently deliver electrical stimulation to the muscles and tissues of the face and neck.
There’s no anesthesia, no recovery time, no down time from work, and no irritating side effects. To achieve maximum results, you’ll need at least six treatment sessions. Routine follow-up treatments are performed to maintain micro-current facelift results.
And the cost?
Costs vary, but J$10,000 (ten thousand dollars) will place you in good stead.
