Jamaica’s finest international models coming for CFW 2007
Caribbean Fashionweek has put regional fashion on the map. Now in its seventh year, the biggest event of its kind in the region has garnered worldwide attention, creating an avenue for young designers and models to showcase their talents on the international stage. This year’s event will feature both local and international designers as well as some of the Caribbean’s most renowned international models. Today we feature Pulse’s Jeneil Williams and Kimanee Wilson.
Jeneil Williams
Jeneil Williams, one of Jamaica’s hottest rising stars, came on the scene in 2005 when she placed third in the Caribbean Model Search competition. A reserved but confident woman, Williams was introduced to the international market in March, 2006. However, one should not confuse quiet reserve with apprehensiveness. This determined and naturally talented model took the international market by storm and within a week was declared model of the week by Models.com. In her first three weeks, she also managed to land the Benetton fall/winter campaign, booked Bloomingdales and several other jobs, signalling to all that she had arrived. The covergirl and editorial star of Italy’s BMM magazine was also one of the many models that took the stage at Pulse’s Rock the Runway in March 2007.
Kimanee Wilson
Also making an appearance at CFW is Pulse supermodel and She covergirl, Kimanee Wilson, one of the hardest working models in the industry. From the parish of Westmoreland, Wilson made her first appearance at Caribbean Fashionweek in June 2005. She has done major shows for over 40 top international designers including Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Perry Ellis, Richard Tyler, Bill Blass, Roberto Cavalli, Chloe, Missoni, Gianfranco Ferre and Oscar de la Renta.
Wilson also boasts an impressive list of editorials. She has done editorial spreads for Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Allure, Essence, L’Officiel, Vibe and Luire. Her list of runway shows is also impressive. No stranger to major campaigns, she has done ad campaigns for Levi Jeans, Aveda, Target, Sephora, Avon and Clinique. However, Wilson’s talents are not limited to the runway. In 2006, she launched a jewellery line called ‘Kiki’0 and made her designer debut at CFW.
Caribbean Fashionweek will be held June 6-10 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. CFW is produced and presented by Pulse in partnership with a range of sponsors including bmobile, Victoria Mutual Building Society, Toyota Jamaica Ltd. Nestlé’s Fitness Breakfast cereal, Smirnoff Vodka, Nestle Supligen, Luster, Viva Sparkling water, The Jamaica Tourist Board, Air Jamaica and the Hilton. Media sponsors include TVJ, SHE Caribbean, Jamrock Magazine, Ocean Style and the Jamaica Observer with radio partners Newstalk, Kool FM and Megajamz.
