My Endless Love
Vows brings you today the nuptials of Michelle Watkis, Digicel head of sales (government), and Ricardo Robinson, Carreras Ltd computer specialist and systems administrator, that took place at the University of the West Indies Mona Chapel on Saturday, August 15.
The sunny afternoon nuptials – officiated by Reverend Paul Thompson and witnessed by a large gathering of the couple’s family and friends – could best be described as a celebration of love.
The bride appeared on the arms of her parents, Beverly and Robert Watkis – a classic beauty in a strapless Mori Lee couture train gown that featured Swarovski crystal detailing throughout the bodice and skirt. Her hair, styled in an upswept chignon accented by a tiara and her Swarovski crystal jewellery, was simply elegant.
The bride made her journey up the aisle clutching a hand-tied bouquet of white calla lilies with cascading orchids accented by Swarovski crystals, to the sound of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross’ duet My Endless Love echoing throughout the chapel.
This proved to be a fitting selection as it was quite evident that groom Ricardo – smartly outfitted in a white tuxedo featuring a satin-framed lapel contrasted by an ivory waistcoat and tie from La Strada – could not hold back his excitement when he saw his beautiful bride beaming from ear to ear. During the ceremony, Reverend Paul Thompson gave the couple light-hearted as well as spiritual advice on relationships and marriage.
The ceremony was a relaxed one with guests enjoying several performances during the ceremony, including the impressive operatic scales of soloists Yvonne Miller doing her rendition of Wedding Prayer and Alyssa McDoom’s rendition of Ave Maria.
The reception followed at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge where guests stepped into an opulent Moroccan- inspired setting created by event planner Shana Newman and Jacqui Stephens of Exquisite Occasions. Guests enjoyed the relaxed cocktail setting before heading into the Gold Room that was impressively decorated with intricate lanterns and fruit centrepieces that lent romance and mystique.
Master of Ceremonies Vincent Clarke kept guests entertained during the formal dinner prepared by Marlene Foster. The relaxed festivities lasted well into the night, and included touching moments, such as the groom’s declaration of unconditional love for his bride, during his reply. The couple plan to spend their honeymoon on a Royal Caribbean cruise.
