Vows brings you the nuptials of customer service representative at National Commercial Bank Nordia Patterson, and managing director of Citi Lubes Distributors Ltd, Dwayne Peters, which took place at the University of the West Indies Chapel, Mona, on Saturday, October 1, 2009. The sunny afternoon wedding officiated by Reverend Peter Garth, witnessed by the couple’s family and friends, could best be described as a celebration filled with happiness.
The bride appeared on the arm of her father, Lenford Patterson, in a strapless satin gown by David’s Bridal complete with an all-over delicate beaded embroidered organza ball gown train skirt. Her hair, styled in an upswept chignon accented by a tiara, was simply elegant. Michelle made her journey up the aisle with a bridal corsage of cascading orchids, to a trumpet processional by Ian Roberts and company. This proved to be a fitting selection as the groom, Dwayne – smartly outfitted in a tuxedo featuring a satin-framed lapel contrasted by an ivory waistcoat and tie from Beautiful Brides and Mr Tux – was the perfect counterpart for his beautiful bride.
The bridal party, also outfitted by Beautiful Brides and Mr Tux, was elegantly styled in co-ordinating outfits for the affair: maid of honour Tricia Patterson wore a gold A-line dress with ruched bodice detailing while bridesmaids Nakeima Palmer, Yvette Knight and Jasmine Hall wore similar-styled outfits in burnt orange. Best man David Williams and groomsmen Sherwin Hayden, Omar Palarchie and Gary Patterson wore dark suits with co-ordinating waistcoats and ties. Flower girls Sonate and Alyssa Patterson wore adorable tulle dresses and ring bearer Tywaine Peters rounded out the party.
During the ceremony, Reverend Peter Garth gave the couple light-hearted as well as spiritual advice on relationships and marriage. The ceremony had a relaxed atmosphere and the musical stylings of Ian Roberts and company during the signing of the register was well received by the gathering.
Formalities and presentation of the newly-weds complete, guests headed to the Medallion Hall Hotel for the reception, and were greeted by a harvest-themed area created by Lily Marie Hall, who used a rich palate of fabrics in chocolate brown, burnt orange, and gold. The cocktail hour afforded guests the opportunity to mingle as well as enjoy tasty delights ahead of the plated dinner service.
Master of Ceremonies Hugh Meredith kept guests entertained during the meal. The relaxed affair lasted well into the night, and included memorable moments like the toast to the groom by his uncle and best man David Williams, who expressed pride in the groom’s accomplishments. The couple plan to spend their honeymoon at Sandals Resorts in Montego Bay.
