My worst Valentine’s Day gift, ever
VALENTINE’S Day, the day dedicated to love, is fast approaching. This is also the day when many daydream about getting that dream gift from that special someone as proof of his/her affection. While it is generally agreed that it is the thought that counts, some persons admit that some of the gifts they’ve gotten in Valentine’s past were pretty much, well, thoughtless. And if the gifts weren’t horrible enough, some were also saddled with dates from hell. Here are some stories.
Jermaine Wright, 26:
I have never received a gift on Valentine’s Day so that’s bad as it is but my worst date was when I went out with a girl who just went through a terrible break-up. I took her to one of the fanciest places in Kingston to help her get over her ex and to leave my imprint on her heart. Things did not go as planned though, as minutes after we got there we saw her ex- boyfriend making out with her best friend. Let’s just say things took a turn for the worst and the date ended soon after.
Alexia Davis 23:
My worst gift came from a married man who I was involved with. I was so excited when I saw the package as it was neatly wrapped in pink and white wrapping. Inside though was a set of men’s cologne, handkerchief, men’s shaving cream and everything else for a man’s use. I was outraged and it was only after I began shouting at him that he told me that another woman had given it to him and there was no way he could take it home as his wife would see it. I was crushed.
Geoffrey Ricketts, 22:
I went all out for a girl I met a few months before a particular Valentine’s Day. It was like we matched perfectly. A few hours into our date she asked to be excused as she had to visit the ladies’ room. A few minutes turned into an half an hour. I called her phone and got no response. A few hours later I was still at the restaurant waiting on my girl to reappear. It was a few days later that I got a call from her and she told me she had seen her boyfriend immediately after she got up and he took her home. I didn’t even knew she was with someone else!
Demona Hamilton, 31:
Those teddy bears and the cheap baskets. I know it’s the thought that matters but what good can a skanky-looking bear do to me? I told my spouse that I’d prefer that he give me a hug this year than one of those cheap bottles of non alcoholic wine, a fake rose drowned in cheap perfume and the teddy bear.
Coco Johnson:
Once I got a basket full of chocolates. I was horrified. I love chocolates but an entire basket of them was too much. Let’s just say the sight of chocolate now gives me the creeps.
Nordia Stone, 29:
Once upon a time the worst gift that Valentine’s Day used to offer was not having someone around to share it with. I remember those days when all my friends used to show me what they received from their significant others and I was green with envy. Thank God, its not like that anymore as I have found love.
Sonia Hamilton, 44:
About seven years ago my ex husband gave me a neatly wrapped box. I was excited as I thought it was a piece of jewellery or a key to a new car. To my dismay it was a gym membership card. I was humiliated. He later told me that I was getting too overweight for him and I needed to shed a few pounds for both of us. To date I still have not forgiven him for making me feel that low.
