Vows – Perfect Destination
Overcast skies opened over the beach of Laughing Waters in St Ann, at the destination wedding of Christian Fray and Joni-Dale Morgan. Though refreshed by the sprinkle, guests beat a hasty retreat to the covered dance floor on the lawns, where the ceremony had been relocated.
Andrae Campbell & Friends began the first bars of “If it wasn’t for your love”, and Joni-Dale, sheltered from the rain by golden palms, was escorted up the aisle on the arm of her father, Desmond Morgan.
The bride was exquisite in a white Casablanca gown. Her elegantly coiffed tresses brushed her shoulders, and in her hands she clutched a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
The bridegroom was debonair in a white mirage jacket, accented by a black vest, tie and trousers. Meanwhile, the wedding’s black, red and white colour theme was portrayed in the wedding party’s attire, with the bridesmaids in flowing red gowns from David’s Bridal and the groomsmen sporting black tuxedos with red ties.
A moving ceremony was conducted by Pastor Michael H Harvey, of the Northern Caribbean University Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The reception followed soon after, with a sumptuous spread from the St Ann Caterers, who also provided cocktails. This was accompanied by tasty pastries courtesy of Tropical Kitchen, which was a prelude to the couple’s wedding cake – a three-tier chocolate creation by Future Bakery – which was covered in white fondant, had black ribbon tied around each tier, and red roses cascading down the side.
It was a wonderful occasion organised by wedding event coordinators, Jewel Events. And international photographer Shelly Edwards (flown in from Florida for the occasion) captured it all, and joined the couple the following day as they shared playful moments, while they ‘trashed the dress’ in the waterfall at Enchanted Gardens.
The couple honeymooned at the north coast’s Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort and Spa.
