Vows – Two Become One
Mandeville Regional Hospital radiographer Donnette Brown wed Jamaica Defence Force coastguard Trevor Copeland Jr, in a lovely morning wedding at the Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mayday, Mandeville on June 5, 2011. Vows shares their love story…
How They Met…
When Donnette Brown commenced her internship at the Mandeville Regional Hospital a few years ago, she had no idea she would meet her Prince Charming on the corridors of the hospital. But as fate would have it, she bumped into the tall, dark and handsome Trevor Copeland one day and sparks immediately flew. Not wanting to rush into a relationship, they initially sought friendship. As the chemistry between them intensified it became difficult to deny that the attraction was more than merely physical — it was true love. In a matter of months, the relationship blossomed, and they kept in touch with regular, lengthy telephone conversations since Trevor worked in Port Royal. “We refused to allow the distance to bother us, we are happy; we do everything together, and we literally live on our phones,” she shared with Vows.
The Proposal….
… was a mutual decision. Two years passed in the twinkling of an eye, and after assessing their relationship and future together, the decision was made to become husband and wife in February of this year. Plans for the big day were made in short order. They decided on the Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mayday, Mandeville for the wedding, and the reception would follow in the church hall.
June 5, 2011…
… was truly magical for the couple. The bride’s co-worker Verleta Douse beautifully decorated the church. Donnette dazzled in a gorgeous gown by Dream Weddings, with natural make-up by Adenika Leyden from Eye’s A-Dazzle Beauty Salon & Accessories, and an elegantly coiffed ‘do by Cassian Fender. Darlene Zchech’s Everything About You filled the air as her proud father Lawrence Brown escorted her to the altar. There was no mistaking her glow as she locked eyes with her dashing groom, who seemed to catch his breath when he saw his bride. The bridesmaids wore sage and chocolate dresses from Dream Weddings, while the groomsmen were outfitted in suits from Spencer’s Tailoring to reflect the bride and groom’s love for earth tones. The groom, too, cut a dashing figure in his uniform as he awaited his blushing bride.
Pastor Thomas Bryan officiated the brief but intimate ceremony and the lovebirds sealed their union with a sand ceremony before heading to the Mandeville Hotel to capture the moments on camera.
The Reception…
… followed in the Paradise Catering and Décor-styled church hall, which featured romantic sage and chocolate hues, complete with bouquets of white roses and carnations. Guests were treated to the soothing sounds of saxophonist Euwayne Miller, while the master of ceremonies Samuel Owen kept them entertained. Communication was clearly not a problem for the newly-weds, as it took them five minutes of negotiating on how to cut the cake and feed each other, much to the humour of the guests. Following the blessing of the cake by mother of the bride Sonia Brown, the newly-weds cut into their elegant three-tiered fruitcake, created by Ricardo Esson. Trevor then surprised his bride by dedicating Bruno Mar’s Just The Way You Are, and was rewarded with an additional dance and a passionate kiss. This led to their guests joining them on the dance floor, and everyone had a ball as they enjoyed the evening.
