Weight on my breasts
Dear Donovan,
I currently weigh 85 kilogrammes (187 pounds) and my doctor says it’s very important for me to lose 30 kgs (66 pounds). I’m a 20-year-old student. My weight has accumulated mainly on my breasts, which have increased from 34D to 40D in two years. Please tell me how I can lose weight. Also, after losing weight, will by breasts get back to their normal size?
It is not uncommon to gain weight in specific areas of the body, for example, the face, arms, stomach, etc. However, in your case, it happens to be your breasts. The good news is that you usually tend to lose weight fastest from the areas that you put it on the quickest. Based on my experience, I believe it is quite possible for your breasts to go back to the normal size if you take the weight off that you have gained.
Your doctor wants you to take off 30 kilogrammes and you should start this now. I wish you had given me some information on your eating habits and if you are exercising or not. I suspect that being a student, you might not be eating properly and you might also not be exercising. In many cases with students, there is a tendency to snack, especially during long study periods. This can contribute significantly to weight gain.
In order for you to lose weight, you will have to find a balance between your studies, diet and exercise. Weight loss will not be achieved until you cut your calorie intake so that the body is forced to use up the reserved fat. In a nutshell, you will have to burn more calories than you take in. This can be achieved by cutting food intake and increasing exercise. While you are reducing food intake, it is also good to put in some healthy foods as well. So, in a practical way, what you can do is that if you are into snacks and juices for example, you can start reducing or cutting these out and replacing them with water. Instead of unhealthy snacks, you should strive to eat more fruits and vegetables and if possible, try to eat on time.
Having a plan of what you will eat the following day is very important. Maybe after a week you might want to start reducing your portion size as well. This can be achieved by using a smaller plate. Lunch can also be divided into two and you can eat half for lunch and half for dinner, thus reducing calories. Getting in more activities such as walking around your campus could be helpful. Try to also put in at least 15 to 30 minutes of structured exercise. This will also help to reduce stress while studying.
