Build positive relationships with your child’s teachers
NOVEMBER is Parents’ Month and it is your duty as parents to become actively involved in your children’s education. Part of this involves building positive relationships with your children’s teachers.
Remember that good teachers welcome dialogue with parents, because it gives them a better understanding of their students. In the parent-teacher relationship, like most others, communication is key.
The relationship between parents and teachers will only be successful when they both work together for the improvement and welfare of the children. Therefore, home and school must unite for the betterment of the children.
Research has shown that the children perform better academically, are more disciplined, respectful and amicable when they are raised in families that demonstrate good parenting skills.
Activities during parents’ month involve tips on strengthening the home-school relationship. As such, the Ministry of Education has encouraged parents to join their schools’ Parent Teachers’ Association so that they too can have a voice in the transformation of the education system and the running of schools.
