Time for fitness, personal development
NOTHING beats a good workout to get your heart rate up and kick you in gear.
To assist in the process, Jamfit will host a Fitness Week from November 2 to 7 during which participating gyms will offer free classes. The week of activities will end with a corporate sports day at Jamaica College on November 7 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, where companies and gymnasiums will compete in six-a-side football, 100m races, tug-of-war and a fitness marathon.
Remember, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle through dieting and exercise in order to guard yourself against lifestyle and other diseases.
Moreover, November is also recognised as Youth and Parent Month, and young people are being urged to get connected in keeping with the theme #IAmConnected.
Activities during the month include a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) youth mobile workshop from November 6 to 7; Ministry of Youth and Culture school tour on November 18; and #reconnect personal development sessions at youth information centres islandwide, also on November 18.
The National Youth Service will stage six-a-side football competitions from November 13 to 14; and a young talent 2015 art exhibition will be held at the National Gallery from November 1 to 14.
The month will also feature ‘Pon Di Corna’ reasonings, heritage tours, and ‘Youth in Conversation’ sessions throughout the island.
