NFPB ramps up ‘Choose 2’ campaign
THE National Family Planning Board (NFPB) has ramped up its ‘Choose 2’ campaign in light of evidence showing that the Zika virus poses a danger to the development of the unborn baby during the first months of pregnancy.
“The majority of unintended pregnancies occur due to a lack of inconsistent or incorrect contraceptive use. With that in mind the ‘Choose 2’ campaign of the NFPB Sexual Health Agency (NFPB-SHA) has been reactivated to encourage women to use a contraceptive method such as the Depo provera injection, oral contraceptives or long-acting reversible contraceptive such as the intra-uterine device along with correct and consistent condom use,” the agency said.
The campaign involves the airing of TV and radio public service announcements and the distribution of information in the form of educational materials to all the NFPB’s target audiences islandwide through the health clinics.
The public is encouraged to visit or call the NFPB’s Marge Roper Counselling Service (968-1619), and to visit the website www.jnfpb.org for more information on the Choose 2 campaign.
