Grey hair down there – what gives?
GROWING a salt and pepper mane is not limited to your head, and no matter how you hate the idea, grey hairs will eventually appear on your pubic area.
This discovery comes as a surprise to most people, but alas, the mound of Venus is not exempt from ageing.
According to obstetrician-gynaecologist Dr Daryl Daley, greying pubic hairs are normal, and if it happens with young girls there is usually a genetic linkage.
“It does not affect libido. Hairs eventually grey everywhere with age, but a young girl with grey hair down there is usually a genetic linkage. It’s not anything to worry about – you can dye them, but just be careful as the dye can affect the natural pH levels of the vagina. I usually tell women to keep it low if it’s a problem,” he advised.
The fact is that hair follicles contain melanin — the pigment that gives hair its colour. The older you get, the less melanin your body produces, leading to your hair turning grey, silver or white.
The onset of greying differs from person to person and has a lot to do with genetics.
People usually develop their first strands of grey hair between 30 and 40, but there are some who go grey much younger as a result of congenital traits.
It is also suspected that a lack of vitamin B12 or a glandular disorder in the thyroid or the pituitary could be a reason for greying private parts, and could even account for vitiligo if the greying is accompanied by white patches on the skin.
But to determine if these conditions are linked to grey hair down there, a blood test would have to be conducted.

From I started growing pubic hair I’ve been shaving it, so I think I’d do the same. It’s also natural so I wouldn’t be embarrassed, but I’d definitely just continue shaving it.

I don’t want to see it and I’m sure my partner wouldn’t want to see it, so I would shave it or dye it and get creative with the dyeing too.
Keneisha, 29:
I would wax them because waxing slows the growth. But I don’t think I’d take kindly to seeing it there because I always jeer my partner that his parts have grown old as he has grey hairs, so I can imagine the day he discovers one there. The teasing would be intense.

I think it’s a natural part of the ageing process, but I don’t want to see it. Some men like a woman au naturel, but I would feel too self-conscious knowing he is seeing silver hair downstairs. Next thing he thinks I am older than I say I am.

If I saw my woman with grey hairs there I would be surprised, but then I would probably joke about it and leave it at that.

I don’t want to see it, especially if it’s a lot. Grey hairs are usually associated with ageing, though I know you will have oddities, I just don’t want to be looking at a fully grey vagina.

I don’t want to see it, but if my woman gave me an excuse to say she dyed it grey like how women are experimenting with the grey hair dyes, I would probably buy into it then.

If she has a few strands of grey on her head, it’s only a matter of time for her privates to start greying too. I don’t see the issue.
