When the old broom sweeps best
One of Jamaica’s many proverbs, “A new broom sweeps clean, but an old broom knows every corner”, plays out for real in many cases of parental relationships. Some people say that people who share children never really separate because once a child is made, their connection will never die. And below, several women share their experience with these truths.
MJ:
I totally agree. My babyfather and I can never leave no matter what. He is now married and I have moved on with another man, yet we still get intimate from time to time. It’s like I can’t fully move on.
Sheryl:
Having a baby is a special bond. It is hard to break it completely with someone you have been with for years and have had several children for. I don’t know if I will ever get over him, because now I am extremely bitter about his new significant other. The ‘feeling’ is still there for my babyfather.
Cindy:
Women must be honest, real and truthful. When you have a baby for a man you were once madly in love with, you can’t just walk away. I am trying my hardest to move on, but I still love him.
CD:
I used to sit and wonder why some women couldn’t leave their babyfathers. This was so until I broke up with mine. Seeing him with another woman gave me great grief. I still wonder if he treats her better or if he is intimate with her as we were. It is not the easiest thing to do when you deeply care for a man.
CV:
It’s hard to move on and easy to slip back. I decided last month to really move on and stop being intimate with him because he now lives with his new woman. I simply have to move on.
