From Cosmos Queen to Mrs Universe ambassador
Kaydia Levien Mckoy continues championing breast cancer awareness
A familiar face in local pageantry and community service, Kaydia Lavish Mckoy is set to continue her impactful work after transitioning from Cosmos Queen of Jamaica to the esteemed title of Mrs Universe Jamaica Ambassador 2025.
Mckoy’s reign as Cosmos Queen of Jamaica 2024, which officially concluded last Saturday, was profoundly dedicated to breast cancer advocacy. During her tenure, she served as the ambassador for the Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run 2024, a role she proudly continues for the 2025 event. Her unwavering support aims to ensure vital resources are available for women battling breast cancer across the island.
“It was an amazing journey, and I’m so grateful for every moment as Cosmos Queen,” Mckoy stated. “My focus has always been on empowering women, especially those facing the challenges of breast cancer. I’m thrilled to continue my support for the Jamaica Reach to Recovery Pink Run in 2025 so we can continue to support women fighting this disease.”
Mckoy’s commitment to the cause extended to high-level advocacy. During her Cosmos reign, she met with government ministers, including the minister of health and the prime minister, to champion the needs of women battling breast cancer. Her efforts brought significant attention and hope to the cancer community.
Her exceptional performance and dedication did not go unnoticed. Mckoy was honoured with three sectional prizes during her Cosmos Queen competition: Congeniality, Best Interview, and Best Fashion. Her impactful work and leadership led to a remarkable re-sashing on stage, officially bestowing upon her the title of Mrs Universe Jamaica Ambassador 2025.
“The sash wasn’t off for long! I was incredibly honoured to be re-sashed on stage as the Mrs Universe Jamaica Ambassador 2025!” Mckoy shared. “This means I get to continue my queen duties, champion my causes, represent the prestigious Mrs Universe organisation, and proudly support all the other queens. I’m so excited for what’s next!”
Mckoy also extended her gratitude to her supporters, stating, “Thank you all for believing in me! A special thank you to my pageant director, Mrs Shannon Green, the honourable judges, choreographer, and make-up artist. To my incredible family — your love and support made this possible.”
She warmly welcomed Dr Kimone Young as the new Cosmos Queen 2025, wishing her a productive reign. The community eagerly anticipates Mckoy’s continued contributions and representation in her new, expanded capacity as Mrs Universe Jamaica Ambassador, as she continues to be a beacon of hope and support for women across Jamaica.
