Westmoreland man in custody after allegedly being caught with gun
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – A Westmoreland man is facing several charges for breaches of the Firearms Act after a gun was reportedly found in his possession during a snap raid at a bar on Wednesday.
He is 26-year-old Darren Wright of Paul Island in Grange Hill in the parish. He has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports are that at about 11:00 pm, a police team conducted a snap raid at a bar where Wright was a patron.
He was searched and one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing sixteen 9mm cartridges was reportedly taken from his waistband.
His court date is being arranged.
