It was California-based sim racer Raven Plummer who emerged as the talk of the town last weekend as the Jamaica Simulation Racing Association (JSRA) began the two-race series to close off its 2023 season.

“I love the Jamaican and Caribbean competition. There are some skilled drivers here and I can’t wait to keep racing alongside them. It’s nice to see some familiar faces too, like Roje Robinson and Roger Keller,” Plummer told the Jamaica Observer‘s weekly Auto magazine.

In her JSRA debt the lone female racer won the main race of opening round of the brand new Caribbean Touring Car Championship (CTCC) on Friday, December 1, ahead of 2023 Jamaican sim racing champion Kurt Moss.

Unfortunately, the reverse grid race would not be as kind and several incidents halted her progress through the field. The two would go head to head again on the Saturday for the JSRA Chase For Pace (CFP) — Porsche Cup series, where the roles were reversed, with Moss in first and Plummer taking second.

Plummer explained that she was drawn to the JSRA by Roje Robinson of Artito Racing, one of the CTCC event partners. While she began sim racing in 2017, it didn’t take serious root until 2022. She’s also been impressed with the size of the JSRA grids and finds the time zone difference a lot easier to handle given her current schedule.

“I’m actually a fan of anime and Initial D brought me to the sim racing world when I found out Assetto Corsa had Akina’s downhill and the AE86. I tried it out, but it was terrible on controller, so when I had the extra cash laying around layer that year I bought a Logitech G920 setup and tried again,” she explained.

The CTCC will continue every Friday in December until the 22nd, while the CFP — Porsche Cup runs on Saturdays through December 23. Both are available to watch live on the Sportsmax App and via replays the JSRA social media channels.

“The JSRA had a strong start to the year with significant firsts. We opened our first dedicated training facility. Our Colombia versus the Caribbean brought us into the Latin markets. Sim racing, for the first time, was a part of the Jamaica Esport Initiative’s National eSports League. Now we plan to end the year even stronger with the CTCC and CFP — Porsche Cup,” Stephen Stewart, president, JSRA, said.
