Chizz Chizem confronts absent fathers with ‘Donor’

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican recording artiste Chizz Chizem is drawing on painful childhood memories and her personal experiences as a single mother to deliver a powerful message about parental responsibility in her single, Donor.

The emotionally charged recording highlights the struggles of mothers forced to raise their children without the support of fathers, a situation she knows all too well.

The connection I have with this song is so deep that I feel as if I am the voice for all single moms,” she shared. “My mom was a single mom and my dad was never around. Now my child is reliving my childhood.”

For Chizem, Donor is more than a song. It is a call for fathers to recognise the emotional and psychological consequences of their absence.

“Kids look up to their fathers, and when they are missing in action, it’s an emotional and mental fight for both mother and child. Mothers should never have to do it alone when it was actually a two-person job bringing a child into this world,” she said.

Executive produced by Chizem herself, with music production handled by Mac Niff, the single also represents a significant step in her artistic development.

She credits Mac Niff for supporting her creative vision and acknowledges the guidance of her mentor and publicist, Ralston “Rallo” Barrett, who encouraged her to draw inspiration from her personal experiences.

“Rallo mentored me in connecting with my reality to get this signature vibe,” she explained.

Chizem believes the recording showcases a more confident and authentic side of her artistry, reflecting the growth she has experienced both personally and professionally.

“I believe this song shows my comfort zone in my craft. The growth of my talent can also be shown through this song, as the flow was on point and precise,” she said.

Donor is expected to be among the featured tracks on her forthcoming EP, The Effects of Chizz Chizem, which she says will highlight her versatility through dynamic lyrics and melodious sounds.

With plans to close out 2026 strongly and build momentum into 2027, Chizem is approaching this new chapter with renewed determination.

“For this single, it’s all or nothing. I am going full force with just about everything, no holding back,” she declared.

The artiste says her focus is now on embracing her truth, expanding her musical horizons and using her voice to connect with audiences through meaningful storytelling.
