Design Tips and Trends from Creative Building Finishes

And just like that, we are halfway through Design Week JA 2021! Our virtual tour on Friday, October 22, took us to Creative Building Finishes Limited. Marketing Manager Andrene Webster took viewers through the showroom located at 5 Red Hills Road. Fun fact: the company has “been the leading supplier of first quality tiles in Jamaica” since 2000.

We managed to fill two notebook pages of tips from Webster’s presentation. However, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a collage of the design tips that most resonated with us.

Wood-finish tiles have trended for a few years. But the trend hasbeen improved upon with the use of luxury vinyl tiles that havea lifetime duration and require no adhesive or thin-set. Just clickand lock into place.
Design tip: Hexagonal tiles are hot!And the new trend has brought backsomething ‘old’ — terrazzo. It’s aclassic finish with an updated look.
Just when you thoughtlarge-format tiles toppedout at 36×36 (inches),think again. Shopfrom Creative BuildingFinishes’ wide selectionof large-format ceramictiles in 45×90, 50×100,90×90, 60×90, 80×80 and60x120 sizes.
Design tip: embossed, bevelled and 3-D tiles givebathrooms a luxurious spalikefeel.
Great uses for natural stone tiles include on a pool deck and in aspa-inspired bathroom.
Design tip: Use a tile and grout cleaner to easily remove grouthaze after installation.
Whether you’re an amateuror professional interiordesigner, get creative withtiles from Creative BuildingFinishes Limited.
Patterned tiles are on-trend. Encaustic tiles — ceramictiles in which “the pattern is not a product of the glazebut of different colours of clay”, such as ones withMoroccan-inspired designs — are great for addingdimension to a space. Design tip: create a tile ‘rug’ inthe kitchen or foyer by clustering encaustic tiles in arectangular shape surrounded by contrasting plain ones.
