Iberostar Hotels & Resorts reopens its Rose Hall hotel complex
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has officially reopened its three-hotel Rose Hall complex in St James, marking an important boost for Jamaica’s tourism sector as it rebounds from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
The company says the reopening underscores its long-standing commitment to Jamaica, its people and “the vibrant community that continues to make this destination so exceptional.”
According to Iberostar, rapid progress toward full operational readiness was made possible through the dedication of its teams and strong collaboration with local partners. Core services, the company said, are now stable across the complex.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, Iberostar activated a series of initiatives to support staff members and their families. These included offering lodging at its hotels for affected team members, providing companionship, and caring for what the company described as the physical, financial and emotional well-being of its people.
As part of wider recovery efforts, the company is rolling out a comprehensive support plan for its 1,700 employees across Jamaica. The programme includes a relief bonus to ease unexpected financial burdens, care packages for all employees to help restock essentials, and a material relief programme to assist with urgent home repairs.
Iberostar has also extended its support into surrounding communities, including its neighbours, the members of the Grange Pen Fishers Association, who were heavily impacted by the storm. The company noted that many of these residents share long-standing connections with the hotel. These actions, it said, reflect Iberostar’s deep commitment to the wellbeing of its employees, their families and the communities it serves.
“Iberostar Hotels & Resorts emphasises that visiting Jamaica is one of the most meaningful ways travelers can support the country’s recovery. Tourism plays a critical role in restoring economic stability, protecting local jobs, and helping the island return to normal as quickly as possible,” the hotel insisted in a release.
