Cop and teen feared drowned in New Year’s tragedy at Portmore beach
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A policeman and a teen are feared dead after an incident at a beach in Hellshire, Portmore, St Catherine on Thursday.
The cop has been identified as Constable Shamar Grant.
It is reported that a woman and the teen had gotten into difficulties while swimming at the beach and Grant, who was on sick leave from work, went to their aid but also encountered problems.
The woman was eventually rescued from the water and rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where her condition is not currently known.
However, Grant and the child went missing and have not been found up to publication time.
Personnel from the Marine Division are assisting in the search.
