Kirky D’s ‘Passion for Fashion’ to assist with hurricane relief and community initiatives

Before he migrated to the United States several years ago, recording artiste Kirkland Falconer, better known as Kirky D, always had a heart for philanthropic efforts.

He would often assist neighbours within the community of Waterhouse, where he resided. He continued his kindhearted ways, when he started a talent series in Connecticut to help promote and to provide opportunities for emerging artistes.

In 2011, Kirky D held his first birthday celebration titled Passion for Fashion, and since then, it has emerged as one of the most anticipated events on the entertainment scene in Connecticut.

This year’s staging, scheduled for May 16 at MECA, also known as Jerk Pit in Hartford, Connecticut, will be held with one main goal, which is to assist with hurricane relief for people that he is familiar with in western Jamaica, who were impacted by Hurricane Melissa last October.

“Giving back is important to us, and a portion of this year’s proceeds will go towards assisting some people in down in the western end of Jamaica that we are familiar with. We also want to support initiatives that positively impact the community. We believe in not only creating experiences but also making a difference beyond the event,” Kirky D disclosed.

Said Kirky D, “We started this event as a vision to merge style, culture and nightlife into one unforgettable event. From day one, the goal was never just to have a party, but to create a platform where fashion meets energy. Since its first staging, Passion for Fashion has evolved in every way—bigger crowds, stronger production and a more refined experience. What began as a stylish gathering has grown into a highly anticipated event that people look forward to each year. The audience has expanded, the visuals have levelled up and the overall vibe has become more immersive. Each year, we raise the bar and make sure the experience feels fresh, elevated and unforgettable.

This year’s event will be hosted by former Magnum King & Queen of the Dancehall runner-up Kayla Di Diva.  Popular sound systems from Connecticut, including Fresh Sound Entertainment, YM Entertainment, Sky Level Movement and Schoolaz Top Shella, are scheduled to amplify the event with intense musical juggling.

“Kayla Di Divà was a natural choice for this year’s lineup. She brings a unique blend of confidence, style and precision to her craft that aligns perfectly with what Passion for Fashion represents. Her ability to read the crowd and control the energy is unmatched, so patrons can expect a set that’s not only high-energy but also memorable from start to finish.  Patrons can expect a well-dressed crowd, high-level vibes, quality music, and an environment where everyone came to stand out,” said Kirky D.

Kirky D is better known for songs such as Treat Her Right featuring Lukie D, Passion for Fashion and Bad Mind.
