Fast-rising reggae artiste Chronixx delivered a superb set at Ilah Iwah held at the Rastafarian Indigenous Village in Irwin, St James, on Sunday.

During his almost two-hour-long stint, which at times seemed ministerial, the recording artiste seemingly had the audience mesmerised and eating out of his hands.

The acoustic presentation saw Chronixx seated with members of Zinc Fence Redemption Band, with just over 200 patrons — mostly seated on the ground —mere metres away.

Chronixx, who delved into his vast repertoire of hits, including

Smile Jamaica, Like a Whistle, Perfect Tree andSomewhere, easily found favour with the highly appreciative audience.

The artiste, who also used the opportunity to interact with patrons, free-styled lyrics and brought on up-and-coming artiste Esau, who delivered well, much to the delight of the audience.

“Chronixx’s performance was unlike anything I have ever experienced; the realness of it, totally unpretentious, it was as if the man was feeding our souls. We shared a connection, maybe it was because of the closeness, but this connection was of mystic proportions,” explained patron Anthony Williams.

Earlier, patrons were treated to authentic drumming and chants and a performance by Montego Bay-based artiste Okonko.

The event also gave patrons the opportunity to sample ital food, roots tonics, purchase jewellery, and of course marijuana and it’s by-products.
